Youth Settlement Program (YSP)

The Youth Settlement Program (YSP) provides settlement support to newly arrived CALD young people through individualised casework and referral services, education and information provision, life skills programs and general advice. The project aims to:
  • Provide specialised culturally and age appropriate services to increase skills, knowledge and resilience to effectively settle in SA
  • Provide individualised case plans to address resettlement barriers
  • Increase knowledge and understanding of Australian culture and norms
  • Increase awareness and access to mainstream services
Features include: homework hub, sport and recreation, Aboriginal art paining, chat room and more.

XLR8

XLR8 (pronounced accelerate) provides intensive settlement support and intervention strategies for newly arrived CALD young people with high and complex needs facing resettlement difficulties. The project aims to:
  • Provide culturally and age appropriate individualised services to address resettlement problems and barriers
  • Increase knowledge of Australian laws and the role of the South Australian Police
  • Reduce offending and antisocial behaviour
  • Strengthen family support systems and informal networks to improve family and personal relationships
  • Increase knowledge and skills to live independently and problem solve with current and future difficulties
  • Increase awareness of and access to mainstream services
Features include: mentoring, sport and recreation, independent living skills and more.

Northern Multicultural Youth Service

The Multicultural Youth Services Program is an ongoing initiative for young people living in the northern metropolitan region, with a specific focus on young people from new and emerging communities and Cambodian young people at risk. The aims of this program are to:
  • Increase young people’s awareness of local youth services in the north
  • Facilitate family events
  • Provide youth social and skill development opportunities in partnership with local services
  • Provide outreach into schools and other community settings
  • Build on existing services and infrastructure by utilising available service locations to deliver services to young people
  • Provide advice, support and training to existing northern services
  • Increase partnerships and linkages between agencies within the broader sector to work more effectively with young people
