Toolkits and Handbooks

This Toolkit contains 5 Modules, a series of Fact Sheets and an Appendix. A series of Fact Sheets also provides specific information on the following cultural groups: Afghan, Bosnian, Croatian, Iranian, Iraqi, Serbian and Southern Sudanese. The Appendix contains the contact details of key multicultural agencies and schools with a high CALD student population.

Toolkit Sexual Health Fact Sheet.pdf

The purpose of this resource is to provide sexual health program facilitators with information and practical strategies for working more effectively with young Africans, particularly refugees. Part 1 provides background and statistical information on refugee arrivals to Australia and defines key terms used in the resource. Part 2 presents some of the social problems affecting newly arrived African young people. Part 3 describes the social understandings and practices of young people in relation to sexual health. Part 4 provides practical tips and pointers for service providers seeking to develop a sexual health program for young Africans. The Additional Support section contains the contact details of key multicultural agencies and schools with a high African student population. The purpose of the handbook is to provide service providers with information and practical strategies for engaging CALD young people in volunteering to help them improve self-esteem and confidence, develop new skills and achieve personal and career goals.
